Getting to Merida from:

—> Europe.

Flying from Europe to Cancun is a very good option due to its proximity to Merida (310 km aprox. 4 hours) and affordable prices.

Paris (CDG) - Cancún International Airport: direct flights with Air France or stopover through Amsterdam or Madrid.

Madrid (Barajas) - Cancún International Airport: direct flights with Aeromexico.

Flying from Europe to Mexico City, and then direct flights from Mexico City to Merida (Viva Aerobus, Volaris, Aeromexico) 2h.

—> Cancun (by bus or by car).

Taking the bus or driving from Merida to Cancún can be the best option while visiting the surroundings: Holbox (Ferry from Puerto de Chiquilá), El Cuyo (Kitesurf + Amazing Beach), Las Coloradas (Río Lagartos), Chichen Itzá, Izamal.

By bus - ADO Platino (Very comfortable seats) from Cancún to Mérida in 4 hours 45 minutes or from Playa del Carmen (if visiting Tulum or Riviera Maya) to Mérida.

—> Miami.

Direct flights with American Airlines to Mérida in 2.5 hours.

—> Mexico City.

Mexico City is the other option when flying from Europe. AirFrance, Iberia and Aeromexico offer direct flights.

Mexico City to Mérida 2 hours - direct flights with Aeromexico, Vivaerobus, Volaris.

When booking a flight from Mexico City make sure the selected airport is Aeropuerto Internacional Benito Juarez/ Aeropuerto Internacional Ciudad de Mexico (AICM) and not Aeropuerto Internacional Felipe Angeles (AIFA). AIFA airport is further away from the city and with few available options for transportation, we do not recommend flying to or from this one.

—> Australia.

Flights from Australia to Los Angeles or Houston is the best way to get to Mexico. You can find direct flights from Los Angeles and Houston to Mexico City or Cancún. If flying to Houston there is a direct flight to Mérida with United Airlines.
